My name is Kameron. After I graduated from High School, I was placed with a Community Services Provider where I received day services. I did not like it much because it was difficult to work with so many different people that were replaced, in a short period of time. I wanted to do the things that liked. I like to do things at my own pace and choose the things that make me happy. Now, with the help from the DDA and my mom, I can choose how I want to spend my day and hire my own personal support staff and services.
I can now work at my own pace. I like going to the library a lot. I can check out books and learn about new things. I like to go grocery shopping and buy my own groceries and my favorite treats. Sometimes I go to the neighborhood park and meet the park ranger. I help with the animals when the park staff let me help. I accepted a volunteer position at the local Mission food pantry. I enjoy bagging fruits and vegetables for people who need help. My mom helps me sometimes write down the things I want to say and helps me create my best Person-Centered Plan.
I like to volunteer in my community. I want to work, and I plan to get vocational supports to help me get the kind of job that I like. The supports will help me learn more about the job and help me with any challenges. I am grateful for the opportunity to choose and hire my own personal supports staff.
